After an eight year hiatus, the much awaited comeback of BIGBANG is finally over as they are set to perform at the Coachella this 2020.

The boy band’s agency, YG Entertainment, tweeted the announcement, leaving fans overjoyed.

BIGBANG is composed of Taeyang, G-Dragon, T.O.P ,and Daesung. The band was on a hiatus while four of the members were engaged in mandatory military service. Furthermore, the former member Seungri was involved in a sex scandal right before his fellow members were discharged. It is popularly known as Burning Sun Scandal and is probably the most controversial in the K-pop world.

Since then, uncertainty arose and fans debated whether BIGBANG would retire from the music industry. During their absence, BTS and SuperM stole the scene as both group’s album releases topped the American Billboard Charts. BTS have also guested at the Ellen Degeneres show and performed at the American Music Awards, and are the first Korean act to perform at the Wembley Stadium in London, selling out tickets in 90 minutes.

Pundits, however, presumes BIGBANG would contend for supremacy once again. The K-pop band debuted in 2006 and since then has garnered a massive fan base. They were at the height of their fame, even covering fashion and lifestyle statements, until their  army duty in 2017.

Now, the group returns with a headlining performance at Coachella on April 10 and 17, in California.

Another group who’s making a comeback at the Coachella is the iconic activist rockband, Rage Against the Machine. Other notable performances include Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, Rex Orange County, as well as Vocaloid Hatsune Miku.
