DOST-PTRI to host a series of free Basic Textile Technology webinars

By John Legaspi

With the extension of the enhanced community quarantine until May 15, it looks like we will be having more time to lounge around and daydream about our lives. If you’re seeking more knowledge, why not sign up for a webinar series that explores fabrics and textile technology?

The coronavirus shifted the fashion industry into producing protective equipment (PPE) as a way of helping out with the shortage of medical grade supplies. This comes with the knowledge and testing of fabrics to be used for the said gear. That’s what the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) aims to impart to everyone through Tech-Know Tela: Basic Textile Technology Course.

The webinar series is composed of eight learning sessions that will introduce the participants to basic textile raw materials and products, the process of manufacturing them, and techniques in quality testing and evaluation.
