It’s been a long month of quarantine. We’ve gone through our piles for binge-watching and spring cleaning, activities which are getting kind of drab as the days go by. If you’re dying to go outside even to wear those LV high heels on the streets, you are not alone.

But for now, staying home is part of our daily fashion life. Who says our creativity and style are limited to the four walls of our house. Check out these brands and personalities and how they encourage everyone to stay at home in style. Who knows? You might just dream your design into reality.

CREATE A PHOTOSHOOT
Noted fashion photographer Mert Alas turned his Instagram account into an open photo exhibit where anyone can join. His art game calls for everyone to create their own photoshoots that he is going to art direct. He will be posting notes about concept, styling, mood, and beauty to be followed. The most important note is to create a character. You can be a Greek god, a hungry vampire, a lost bride, or a manifestation of a surreal painting as long as it fits the concept. Those interested to join can send him a direct message with the photos to @mertalas which he will edit and post it on his Instagram feed. Now that’s a creative way to take selfies other than just wrapping yourself with a pillow and belt.

SKETCH YOUR DREAM SHOES
Shoe brand Jimmy Choo announces the launch of a weekly sketch activation on Instagram with Choo Sketch. Creative director Sandra Choi has invited the Jimmy Choo community to join in a creative conversation by sketching their fantasy shoe designs. Sandra will shortlist 10 sketches to be put to a final vote on the brand’s Instagram. Five finalists will then see their dream shoe brought to life as a capsule of five styles that will be part of a collection with all proceeds donated to a charity through the Jimmy Choo Foundation.

Introducing #CHOOSKETCH: sketch your fantasy shoe and your design could be part of a capsule collection sold for charity. It’s important to try to keep a positive mindset during these challenging times. The world is fighting something invisible to the eye that can be mentally and emotionally draining. For me, nature has always provided much needed escapism, watching the world continue to flourish as our usual way of life is interrupted has been enlightening. Mother Nature continues on in its own rhythm; spring is just starting and the blossom trees in my garden are providing a much needed light at the end of the tunnel. Never more have we needed to look to things that help our minds keep calm and stay positive. For my first #CHOOSKETCH I have created a fantasy shoe that takes inspiration from the pure beauty of blossom, contrasting against an infinite blue sky backlit with rays of golden sunlight. Italian luxury brand Bottega Veneta is offering a platform for positivity and creativity with Bottega Residency. Every week, the platform will feature artists of different forms of art—design, music, film, et cetera—to share their muses and how they get inspired.

Dubbed as the “theatre of joyous distraction,” Bottega Residency will also feature live performances by collaborating artists and cooking shows from rising culinary stars.
