UST students cheer on frontliners with music video

Students from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) through the University’s Communications Bureau and its Tiger Media Network collaborated to produce a music video titled “Malagpasan” or “We Shall Overcome” to thank, cheer, and pay tribute to the frontliners amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

The song was composed by Kenneth Reodica and sung by Jan Montenegro and Ryan Gabriel, students of the UST Conservatory of Music. It aims to send the message that the youth are aware and appreciative of the sacrifices of these frontliners, who risk their lives, and others who even lost their lives, in response to the call of their noble duty. The youth convey their heartfelt gratitude and assure the frontliners that their efforts will succeed because “we will work together as a nation, and we shall overcome all storms.”

The 3-minute music video also contains well-wishers from the Thomasian community that is composed of the Dominican Fathers and students, as well as administrative and academic officials, faculty members, alumni, support staff, and their families.

The music video carries the message of “finding hope in the midst of crisis.” It is the Thomasian community’s way of sharing love, hope, and gratitude to the frontliners and reassuring them that they are never alone in the fight against Covid-19. The entire country is with them.
