VIRAL: Banana Pool, anyone?

By JESSICA PAG-IWAYAN

In the Philippines, we start to feel the scorching heat of the sun around March and April. In normal circumstances, families fill their weekends with visits to different resorts to take a dip in swimming pools or enjoy the ocean waves by the beach.

But since the pandemic Covid-19 has forced us to stay home under the extended enhanced community quarantine, we simply cannot go out to enjoy the outdoors anymore.

In Nagcarlan, Laguna, a father named Francis Manila heard his children’s plea for a swimming pool. He used his resourcefulness by building an improvised swimming pool for the kids.

In a now viral Facebook post, it shows that Francis built a swimming pool using parts of banana trees and tarpaulin sheets.  “DIY swimming pool. For only P180 you can already swim,” the post says. “Beat the heat, beat Covid-19.”

As of writing, this post has garnered 14,000 shares.
