Imagine going on a trip without any destinations planned or a place to spend the night! That would be a total disaster, wouldn’t it? Careful research and planning are tried-and-tested ways to make sure you are well-prepared.

I am a homeschooler and an advantage I benefit a lot from is having a lot more time to explore and maximize the resources available to me. These discoveries widen my perspective on a wide range of topics and provide a wealth of information that enhances my learning. Science is by far my favorite, and I love going beyond my textbooks and exploring different platforms. These are some resources I use very often.

Short lessons in videos

Khan Academy is an American non-profit educational organization created in 2008 by Salman Khan with the goal of creating a set of online tools that help educate students. The organization produces short lessons in the form of videos. I use it, especially for the quantitative branches of science, like physics and chemistry. The website teaches me how to utilize formulas and helps me thoroughly and systematically understand lots of information.

Visual learning

Crash Course is an educational YouTube channel started by John and Hank Green, who first achieved fame on the YouTube platform through their VlogBrothers channel. It contains various lessons on various topics for various ages. In my opinion, it is perfect for visual learners as it gives numerous vivid examples and is able to describe topics clearly. It is also very entertaining and amusing since the teachers make an effort to make the content fun to learn.

Big picture learning

TED-Ed is TED’s youth and education initiative. Its mission is to spark and celebrate the ideas of teachers and students around the world. I really enjoy watching their videos because I see my lessons from different angles. It is able to concisely explain topics in a way that I eventually see the big picture in a creative and interesting way.

I highly recommend these remarkable resources! Another notable aspect about them is that they are all free! They have been helping me tremendously and I am so sure they will help you too!
