In preparation for its anticipated re-opening as the country transitions to a general community quarantine (GCQ), Resorts World Manila (RWM) and its partner hotels team up with trusted global sanitation leaders to ensure cleanliness and safety within the property. This is in light of the country’s transition to the so-called “new normal” in terms of travel, hospitality, leisure, and entertainment, and in line with the Department of Tourism’s memo on “New Normal Health and Safety Guidelines for Accommodation Establishments.”

Upgraded Sanitation SOPs for hotels in RWM

As part of global brands, hotels nestled within RWM such as Marriott Hotel Manila, Sheraton Manila Hotel, Hilton Manila, Hotel Okura Manila, and Holiday Inn Express Manila (HIEx Manila) are rolling out their enhanced health and sanitation standards to safeguard staff and guests as well as help curb the spread of the novel coronavirus. New and improved safety measures are being introduced in the property including Marriott Global Hotel Cleanliness Program for Marriott Manila and Sheraton Manila, Hilton’s CleanStay, and Intercontinental Hotel Group’s (IHG) Guidelines for Covid-19 Prevention for HIEx Manila. These efforts are in collaboration with the world’s most trusted hygiene and sanitation brands—Lysol, Ecolab, and Diversey.

To further up the ante in cleanliness standards amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, Marriott International launched the Global Cleanliness Council in late April.

In response, Marriott Manila and Sheraton Manila are implementing enhanced cleanliness SOPs and practices as well as training programs for hotel staff in cooperation with Ecolab, a global provider of hygiene and energy technologies and services. This is to establish safety awareness and increase the level of hygiene and disinfecting protocols to minimize risks and guarantee the safety of guests and employees alike.

On the other hand, Hilton builds on its high-standard housekeeping and hygiene practices, where hospital-grade cleaning products are already in place, with the establishment of Hilton CleanStay. The global program, which is expected to launch this month, will be a rigorous system that employs a scientific approach to sanitation practices. This new industry-defining cleanliness and disinfection standard are under the supervision of Mayo Clinic’s Infection Prevention and Control team and in partnership with RB, the maker of Lysol.

Upon the advice of Mayo Clinic, the top-ranked healthcare system in the US, Hilton will put in place enhanced cleaning protocols, training programs, and quality assurance.

Hotel Okura Manila, in partnership with Diversey Hygiene Academy, will also be implementing sustainable cleanliness protocols to elevate quality safety solutions in anticipation of the hotel opening. The hotel will first offer “Okura at Home,” its food delivery and take-out options once the modified enhanced community quarantine is lifted. The well-known Japanese hospitality brand is slated to open this 2020.

Another global practice that will be applied in the RWM property is the IHG’s stringent hygiene and cleanliness protocol in response to addressing the Covid-19 pandemic. In partnership with Ecolab and Diversey, HIEx Manila is continuously upgrading its disinfection SOPs as well as its health and epidemic preventive measures to minimize risks.

Opening of Newport Mall

On May 22, Newport Mall opened its doors to the public for the first time in two months with stringent health and safety measures as well as social distancing protocols in place. Aside from the initial safety guidelines such as wearing of masks, mandatory thermal scanning, and hand sanitizer stations, RWM and Newport Mall have also set up enhanced protective and cleanliness precautions such as employing of Anti-Virus Patrol who will do round-the-clock hygiene surveillance within the property to ensure public safety. Additional state-of-the-art sanitation and disinfection technologies are installed in different areas including smart disinfection and temperature chamber, Multi-Quat sanitizer, and escalator handrail sanitizers. Contactless purchase with designated pick-up counters and drive through stations is also being introduced as a new safety protocol that will be rolled out in the re-opening.
