Cast of new Korean action noir series ‘Undercover’ confirmed

Some of K-drama’s top actors join the new show

Ahn Bo-Hyun and Han So-He

Han So-Hee and Ahn Bo-Hyun are among the cast members of an upcoming Korean action noir series called Undercover (original Korean title 언더커버), according to popular streaming service Netflix. Starring alongside Han So-Hee and Ahn Bo-Hyun are Park Hee-Soon, Kim Sangho, Lee Hak-ju, and Jang Yull

Park Hee-Soon

Undercover revolves around the story of Yun Ji-u, played by Han So-Hee (The World of the Married and the Netflix original Abyss) who decides to join a drug cartel and becomes a mole in the police force hoping to find the truth behind the death of her father, who died under odd and suspicious circumstances.

Kim Sangho

Park Hee-Soon, who won Best Supporting Actor at the 54th BaekSang Arts Awards in Korea for the film 1987: When The Day Comes, plays the role of Choi Mu-Jin. Known as the “Kingpin of Dongcheon,” the country’s top drug cartel, he is a quite undecipherable character, the one who turns Yun Ji-u into an undercover agent.

Lee Hak-ju

Ahn Bo-Hyun, a crowd favorite from Itaewon Class, plays the role of narcotics police detective Jeon Pildo who partners with Ji-u during the investigation. Kim Sangho, from the original series Kingdom, would be taking on the role of Cha Giho, the chief of the narcotics unit. He gets into some interesting conflict with Choi Mu-jin as the series progresses.

Jang Yull

Undercover looks like it’s building up as an action thriller any K-drama fan shouldn’t miss. The show is directed by Kim Jin Min, the director who captured global audiences with the hit series Extracurricular

Undercover is expected to premiere on Netflix sometime in the first half of 2021, the same time its pilot episode airs on JTBC in Korea.
