Democrat leader Joe Biden was recently declared the 46th President-elect of the United States. To mark the mood of victory following a closely-fought race to the White House, Biden’s granddaughter Naomi Biden took to Twitter to share a heartwarming age of Joe embraced by his grandchildren.

The image, which in no time went massively viral, evoked intense emotions among netizens.

Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, were on their backyard patio when they heard applause coming from inside their home, where the family was watching news of his victory on the television. The couple’s grandchildren rushed to share the news, telling Biden: “Pop, Pop! We won!”

Growing up within a relatively large (by today’s standards at least) family of six has translated to Biden having had his own large brood of kids and now grandkids. He has seven grandchildren, including Finnegan, Maisy, Naomi, and Natalie.

Meaningful hug

Addressing Americans in his first speech post-electoral triumph, Biden called for unity and empathy towards all. He also reiterated his call to protect families as he hugged and cherished his own on the stage. The 77-year-old wrapped his arms around his son Hunter, and planted a kiss on the cheeks of his grandson.

“I would not be here without the love and tireless support of Jill, Hunter, Ashley, all of our grandchildren and their spouses, and all our family,” Biden said in his remarks. “They are my heart.”

In his speech, he also remembered his late son Beau, a former attorney general and Iraq War veteran that inspired him to continue holding public office. In 2015, Beau passed away due to brain cancer.

Biden also shared a hymn that meant a lot to his late son.

“I hope that the hymn from Psalm 91 can provide comfort and solace to the more than 230,000 families who have lost a loved one to this terrible virus this year. Hopefully, this hymn gives you solace as well,” he said.
